For many, traveling in the summer is an undertaking. For me, traveling can already begin by simply reading a book, watching, and diving into films and documentaries. Through this, I've visited many cities and natural landscapes.

Physical travel, for me, means walking: experiencing new or familiar places with fresh eyes. Even crossing the IJ in Amsterdam by ferry feels different every time. Sailing across the Wadden Sea from Lauwersoog to Schiermonnikoog is a small journey, yet never the same. Mudflat hiking can also be an adventure, physically demanding, but the idea that you can walk on the seabed, which is only dry for a few hours, is extraordinary. Feeling the vastness, breathing in the salty air, sinking into the mud; that's when you realize how small you are as a human being.

Swimming in open water can also be a form of travel. Feeling the movement of the water around you, and crossing from one shore to the other by your own strength. They may not be spectacular journeys, but they're about enjoying your own strength and the thoughts that accompany you along the way.
