Exploring Family Histories Through Zines - 3 Day Course

  • Riso Pop Maasstraat 182 Amsterdam (map)

Welcome to our summer course on Riso Zine-making!

Explore your roots, tell your story, and bring it to life in print.

Join us for a special 3-day summer workshop where we dive into personal and family histories through zine making. Whether you want to document a cherished family recipe, a grandparent’s migration story, or simply capture the essence of your heritage, this course offers a creative space to explore where you come from.

This workshop takes place over three afternoons starting on Saturday July 19th where participants will get guidelines for developing their riso project. Followed by two session on Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd of August to experiment and have time to develop their initial ideas. This schedule gives you a full 10 days between sessions to reflect, gather materials, and develop your zine at your own pace.

Over the course of the workshop, you’ll be guided through storytelling exercises, learn how to plan and design your own zine, and discover the unique charm of Risograph printing. We'll experiment with collage, illustration, and text to build a small zine that reflects your personal connection to family, tradition, or identity.

By the end of the workshop, you'll leave with your own Riso-printed zine — a keepsake that celebrates your story.
