My childhood summers were all about water. Summer was the only time in the year when you could go out swimming, which is something I rarely do as an adult.

Whether it was going out camping in the woods by a lake, a family vacation by the seaside, a trip abroad, kayaking, my dad's pastime of building boats — a body of water was always present, and, ideally, you were in it.
