Join us for four creative Tuesday evenings dedicated to bringing your very own zine to life!
In this hands-on course, you'll develop one personal zine project from concept to finished publication, exploring the creative and technical possibilities of zine-making along the way.
From shaping your initial idea to designing your pages, preparing files, printing with Riso, and experimenting with binding techniques, we'll guide you through the entire process of creating your own publication.
What will you explore?
Idea Development: Shape your concept, explore themes, and find your own approach to storytelling.
Format & Design: Experiment with layouts, build templates, and prepare your files for Riso printing.
Risograph Printing: Discover the possibilities of Riso and get hands-on experience printing your zine.
Binding & Finishing: Bring everything together through folding, cutting, and binding techniques.
Compared to our 6-week course, this shorter programme focuses on developing and completing one zine project. Perfect for anyone eager to explore self-publishing, develop their creative ideas, and turn them into something tangible!
How is this course set up?
Over four weeks, you'll develop your own zine from start to finish, exploring everything from creative concepts and layout design to Riso printing and binding.
Get inspired & explore possibilities: We’ll kick things off by exploring a variety of zines, looking at their formats, layouts, storytelling approaches, and creative details. You’ll also be introduced to the Risograph printer, discovering its unique possibilities and what to consider when designing a zine for Riso printing.
Develop your zine: Time to bring your ideas to life! We’ll dive into the technical and creative sides of zine-making, from setting up templates and planning your pages to experimenting with layouts and visual storytelling. Through group discussions and individual guidance, you’ll develop your project, refine your design, and prepare your files for printing.
Print, fold & bind: In the final stage, we move into production! You’ll get hands-on experience printing your zine on the Risograph, followed by cutting, folding, and binding your pages. By the end of the course, you’ll have your very own printed zine to take home!
