Full-Day: Walk & Riso Zine
Step away from your screens and join us for a full-day creative safari!
We’ll start the morning by exploring an inspiring neighbourhood of Amsterdam, walking, observing and collecting along the way. Through quick sketches, photos, notes and found textures, we’ll capture the little details, shapes and stories that catch our attention.
In the afternoon, we’ll return to the studio and translate our findings into Riso print. You’ll learn how to work with your drawings, photos and collected material, experiment with layers and colour, and bring your observations together on the page.
At the end of the day, we’ll combine everyone’s work into a collaborative Riso-printed zine, creating a shared visual record of our walk. Everyone will leave with their own copy to take home!
What can you expect from this workshop:
Part 1: The Morning Walk & Texture Hunt
We will gear you up with a custom "Field Kit" (sketchbook, charcoal, graphite, ink brush, and a viewfinder) and head out into the neighbourhood. Together, we'll explore local spots, hunting for interesting details, patterns and textures. You will get drawing and photo prompts so you can gather a collection of images to use later in the day. You’ll learn how to view the city through a "Riso lens."
Part 2: The Studio & Collage Lab
Back at the studio (after a lunch break), we will print out your favourite smartphone snapshots in high-contrast greyscale. You will then build your A3 layout using analog collage approach. We will teach you how to create a two-layer design so you can easily plan your duotone magic without needing a computer.
Part 3: Riso Printing!
This is where the magic happens! You will learn to operate the machine, burn your masters, and run your prints. Finally, we’ll fold, cut, and swap prints, ending the day with a mini-exhibition of our fresh A3 posters and zines!
