As the days get shorter and we move into the cozier months, it’s the perfect time to make a notebook for all those autumn thoughts, sketches and little observations!
In this hands-on workshop, you’ll design and Riso print your own notebook from start to finish. We’ll begin by creating a cover and playful inside pages using drawing, collage and analogue techniques, experimenting with Riso colours, layers and a mix of white and coloured papers.
Once everything is printed, we’ll move on to bookbinding, where you’ll learn how to assemble and hand-bind your pages using a simple saddle stitch with thread. You’re also welcome to bring along any special papers, scraps or pages you’d like to include and make your notebook even more personal.
At the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with your very own handmade and Riso-printed notebook, ready to fill with autumn notes, sketches, lists, ideas, or whatever the new season brings!
What to expect?
We’ll start with a short introduction to Risograph printing, how the machine works and how we build an image colour by colour.
You’ll design the front and back cover of your notebook, using drawing, collage and other analogue techniques.
We’ll also play with the inside pages, adding small illustrations, patterns, lines or other details to make your notebook truly your own.
You’ll have a selection of beautiful white and coloured papers to choose from and combine throughout your notebook. You’re also welcome to bring some of your own special papers to include!
Once everything is printed, you’ll learn how to assemble and hand-bind your notebook with thread, bringing all the different elements together into your finished book.
You’ll leave with your very own handmade, Riso-printed notebook, ready to fill with autumn sketches, notes, ideas and observations.
You’ll leave with one beautifully finished, hand-bound Riso notebook. If time allows, you’ll also have the chance to use your leftover prints and papers to make up to two smaller notebooks to take home.
