Welcome Members!

Welcome to the Riso Club! This is members page which you will have access to for the rest of the year. Every month this page will be updated with the monthly theme, paper special as well as resources and or inspiration gathered for you. My plan is to keep developing this page so it becomes more interactive, with help of your feedback, but for now this will be the basic version.

Quick Overview - Please read

  • Monthly Theme (optional): Every month you will find an optional theme. This is to help you in case you need some inspiration.

  • Paper: We print standard with Biotop 160gsm. Sometimes we have special paper that we will announce beforehand. You are welcome to bring your own paper as well, and if you’d like to use specific paper at the studio this will have extra costs.

  • Calendar (fixed): When you scroll down you will find printing session date as well as the deadline to send in your files. We use this information to have paper stock ready and plan the printing sessions.

  • Printing Session: Printing sessions will take place on the last Saturday of the months (with certain exceptions). You can decide to join the live session and print with us, or select the shipping option.
I will always print your work as long as you send it before the deadline.

Riso Club March

Hello Riso Club friends!
I hope you’re feeling as thrilled about this sunny week as we are! ☀️

With the garden slowly coming back to life and the first signs of spring appearing everywhere, it felt like the perfect moment to take some inspiration from nature. Watching the small changes outside, the first green shoots, tiny buds on branches, and seedlings pushing through the soil, reminds us how much energy there is in new beginnings.

Inspired by our lovely garden, which is slowly waking up again, the optional theme for this month is:

🌱
Buds & Seedlings

Next to the theme, we’re also introducing a small creative challenge:
create a mini leporello (accordion-fold) zine!
This format is perfect for playing with sequences, small narratives, or unfolding imagery.

As always, both the theme and the challenge are optional, so feel free to follow your own ideas as well.

Printing Session:
March 28th

From 11am to 3pm

See you then!
Warmly,
- Aafke

This Months’ Theme & Challenge:

Theme: Buds & Seedlings

How to tackle this theme: think about the small plants sprouting from the ground or the tiny green buds appearing on branches in early spring. But you can also take another approach: consider ideas like growing after being dormant, fresh beginnings, or new opportunities.

Challenge: Mini Leporello

To add a fun extra challenge: why not make a small leporello zine? We have a fun and easy template that you can use to make a small zine with 8 pages + cover & back.

Here are some tips and things to keep in mind:

  • Make a dummy! - print out the template at home or recreate it so you understand how it works and how the pages flow.

  • Keep in mind folding lines and cutting lines! We recommend to use teh template as a base, but also feel free to edit or lower the opacity so certain lines don’t print.

  • The cover/back includes space for the ‘spine’ of your mini book. You can also opt for not using the cover/back.

Remember that the theme & challenge is always optional!

If you join the zine challenge you’ll be printing on A3 format with two colours of your choosing.
For those who will not print a zine: your print will be as normal, A4 with two colours of your choosing.

Your colour choices :

You can use all of our 15 colours!
Please note that we are low on Sunflower Yellow

Preparing your files

  • Please have your designs ready, in B&W

  • If making the zine your files should be A3 format

  • If not making the zine, your files will be A4.

  • Your design should be in separate files per colour.

  • These files should be saved as PDF’s

  • Please also send your full colour version so I can use as reference (in JPEG or PNG).
