Welcome to the Riso Club! This is members page which you will have access to for the rest of the year. Every month this page will be updated with the monthly theme, paper special as well as resources and or inspiration gathered for you. My plan is to keep developing this page so it becomes more interactive, with help of your feedback, but for now this will be the basic version.

Quick Overview - Please read

  • Monthly Theme (optional): Every month you will find an optional theme. This is to help you in case you need some inspiration.

  • Paper: We print standard with Biotop 160gsm. Sometimes we have special paper that we will announce beforehand. You are welcome to bring your own paper as well, and if you’d like to use specific paper at the studio this will have extra costs.

  • Calendar (fixed): When you scroll down you will find printing session date as well as the deadline to send in your files. We use this information to have paper stock ready and plan the printing sessions.

  • Printing Session: Printing sessions will take place on the last Saturday of the months (with certain exceptions). You can decide to join the live session and print with us, or select the shipping option.
I will always print your work as long as you send it before the deadline.

Riso Club August

Hello Riso Club friends!

August Prompt: Underwater

Summer is the perfect time to dive into cool waters and explore the world beneath the surface. Whether you're swimming in the ocean, floating in a quiet lake, snorkelling through coral reefs, or simply imagining an underwater adventure, there's an endless source of inspiration waiting to be discovered.

This month, we'd love you to explore the theme Underwater. Take some time to observe the fascinating shapes, textures, and patterns found below the surface. From seaweed and coral to shells, fish, aquatic plants, and shimmering reflections, there's a whole world of beautiful forms to draw from.

For an extra creative challenge, experiment with layers and transparency in your design. Think about how overlapping colours can create depth, movement, and the feeling of light filtering through water. If you're looking for inspiration, botanical illustrations and marine life are wonderful references for organic shapes and intricate details.

We're looking forward to seeing all the colourful underwater worlds you create.
Dive in, experiment, and have fun!

As always, the theme is optional, so feel free to follow your own ideas as well.

Printing Session:
August 29th

From 11am to 3pm

See you then!
Warmly,
- Riso Pop team

Underwater

How to Tackle This Theme

Not sure where to begin? Here are a few ideas to get your story flowing:

  • Research organic forms: Browse books, documentaries, or botanical illustrations of seaweed, coral, shells, jellyfish, fish, and aquatic plants. Pay attention to the incredible textures, patterns, and shapes found in nature.

  • Play with layers: Imagine looking through water. What appears in the foreground? What fades into the distance? Experiment with overlapping shapes and transparent colours to create depth and movement.

  • Observe light and colour: Notice how sunlight filters through water, how reflections distort shapes, or how bubbles, ripples, and shadows create interesting effects. Risograph inks are perfect for recreating these layered, luminous qualities.

  • Create your own underwater world: Your illustration doesn't have to be realistic. Mix real marine life with imaginary creatures, hidden treasures, or fantastical landscapes. Let your imagination take you beneath the surface.
