Welcome to the Riso Club! This is members page which you will have access to for the rest of the year. Every month this page will be updated with the monthly theme, paper special as well as resources and or inspiration gathered for you. My plan is to keep developing this page so it becomes more interactive, with help of your feedback, but for now this will be the basic version.

Quick Overview - Please read

• Monthly Theme (optional): Every month you will find an optional theme. This is to help you in case you need some inspiration.

• Paper: We print standard with Biotop 160gsm. Sometimes we have special paper that we will announce beforehand. You are welcome to bring your own paper as well, and if you’d like to use specific paper at the studio this will have extra costs.

• Calendar (fixed): When you scroll down you will find printing session date as well as the deadline to send in your files. We use this information to have paper stock ready and plan the printing sessions.

• Printing Session: Printing sessions will take place on the last Saturday of the months (with certain exceptions). You can decide to join the live session and print with us, or select the shipping option.
  I will always print your work as long as you send it before the deadline.

Hello Riso Club friends!

October Prompt: Between Worlds 🍂

October is a month filled with traditions that play with the boundary between the everyday and the supernatural, from Halloween and autumn folklore to Día de Muertos and other celebrations remembering those who came before us.

Rather than going full pumpkins-and-ghosts, we’d like to use this atmosphere as our starting point.

Think about night creatures, spirits, memories, ancestors, offerings, candles, shadows, strange plants, masks, bones, moons, transformations, rituals, folklore or things that only seem to appear after dark.

Your interpretation can be spooky, funny, beautiful, strange, personal or completely imaginary.
As always, the theme is there as a prompt, not a rule!

Printing Session:

We have a course taking place at the studio in the morning, so we’re moving Riso Club to the afternoon this month. Make sure to pop the new time in your calendar!

And since it’s October, we thought we’d make this edition a little extra special…

Alongside our usual printing session, we’ll have a few additional activities around the studio that you’re welcome to join in on! Think of it as a cosy, slightly spooky afternoon of making, printing and hanging out together.

How to Tackle This Theme

Not sure where to begin? Here are a few ideas to get those autumn vibes flowing:

• Explore folklore and mythology: Every culture has its own stories about spirits, magical creatures and mysterious happenings. Take inspiration from an old legend, a childhood story or a superstition you grew up with. You can even invent your own!.

• Play with transformation: Autumn is a season of change. Leaves fall, plants decay, mushrooms grow and nature prepares for winter. Explore metamorphosis, cycles of life and death, or imaginary transformations where one thing becomes another.

• Find magic in the everyday: Sometimes the most ordinary things can feel a little strange. A reflection in a window, an unusual mushroom or a tree that looks like a creature. What if the everyday world was hiding something magical?
