Are you ready to dive deep into the riso experience? I’d like to welcome you to this digital workshop, which I hope will give you all the necessary tools to get into printing digital illustrations with riso!
This workshop has two parts; the first is you working on a design at home with the help of the handout provided here for you.
For the next days until the workshop, you can ask for help in file prep through mail:
hello@risopop.com
We meet in person on Thursday the 10th at the studio for the printing session of your illustration!
You can now start sketching and getting inspiration!
This is a quick checklist to get you started, and I recommend to download the PDF handout:
Open a new file on A3 size and check resolution is at 300dpi.
Decide if you want to work with 1, 2 or 3 colours (you can see the colour options we have as well as their hex codes here below)
Work with separate layers per colour.
Each layer should be set into MULTIPLY mode - this will simulate the riso colours mixing.
You will export/save each colour as a separate PDF in greyscale - PLEASE check the handout to read how to do this properly ;)
Don’t stress, this is your 1st time printing so play and have fun!
I always allocate time during the workshop to take a look at your files and double check before printing.
Step 1: Save your files
Double check you are happy with your greyscale output!
Now export each colour as a PDF and name each file: YOURNAME_COLOUR
So if you are printing with, for example, pink & blue you should have two PDF files, one for each colour.
Please also save a full colour version so we can have a reference.
Step 2: Ask for feedback - If you would like me to take a look at your files before Thursday, send them through :)
We will now meet at the Riso Pop studio for the printing session!
Krugerstraat 36h
